well i was wearign a pair of wal-mart generic $24 hiking style boots but between the sole wearing out, and the fact that even in a slight drizzzle at 55mph they got soaked. went out an got a pair of HD brand "notorious" boots lace up plus a zipper on the sides for easy in/out comfy too
Like astark said...get something brand-name on eBay. In summer, I wear my H-D boots. They're not waterproof, but I know they'll dry out quickly enough. They're also steel-toed, for stompin' butt if I need to. My winter boots are Golden Retriever steel toed thinsulate, waterproof boots.
Something I learned in the Navy on a ship for 3 years...keep 'em polished (not necessarily 'shiny', just put polish on them once a week or so), and a good leather boot will last a long time. An awful lot of salt got on my boots in the Navy and salt will screw up leather in no time...I owned my pair of boondockers from bootcamp the whole time I was in.
West Coast Shoe-Fire Stormer Bought direct over the telephone, they are in Portland Oregon.
I was in a red wing shoe store and just found out about a program that is bringing back some of the older models that where discontinued because of cost. Which is great to buy leather vamp and insoles.
But for riding West Coast is the way. Resoleable and rebuildable.
