I don't use it alot, but I do use it. Doesn't get in the way either, I got small feet.

You guys dealing with the heel shifter for the first time should give it more than a 20 minute chance to grow on you. Not only for casual riding, but stomping down on that heel pad with the FRONT of your foot when youre getting on it! Make sure it is adjusted down properly on the spline for minimal lift of your heel off the board when just cruising. Give it a chance.

Got one on one of my bikes, and I like it OK, but the real issue for me is that I really don't care for floor boards (which go with heel shifters like bread and butter, or politicians and graft). Floor boards are comfortable, but are just an impediment to heavy leaning in the twisties. Floor boards and heel shifters are OK on a big old slow sow of a bagger.....

I was going to take my heel shifter off ... then I put cool shifter pedals on both of them, and I like the look. Plus, my left foot just seems to naturally set back right into the heel shifter when I'm cruising. So, I decided to keep it.

Try it without for a few miles ... it’s pretty easy to take it off and put it back on …. see what works for you.

I think the heel lever makes it twice as easy to hit neutral.

first time i rented a deluxe, i hated the heel shifter. second time I rented one, i gave it more of a chance and found that I did not hate it. In fact, i really liked it. Now i own a deluxe and use that heel shifter almost exclusively. It's kind of fun.

With flat sole shoes its easy to shift using the heel shifter, but with my boots that has heels I can't just rock up the rear foot enough to shift. I have to raise my leg to do it, If I didn't have a bad back it probably would be ok, but after shifting a couple hundred times it really get to me..and yes I adjusted it down as far as I could without it hitting the floorboard...

Its just easier to use the toe shifter, and yes I also finally remove the heel for more room.

Took mine off, after a few months, so I would have more room on the floor board.
