They are pretty useless the way HD ships them. After you move them down so you don't have to lift your heel so much, they are pretty nice. I also replaced the pegs, so now, I like it a lot and use it all the time.

I left it on for a couple of years and tried to get used to it and never did.

Gone with the cap installed.

Feels like a lot more floorboard room for the left foot.

Replaced the heel/toe on my RK with a set-up from Wicked Image that increased the space between the pegs so I'd have more room for my size 13's. Great option for those who want more room but also want to keep the heel shifter. Personally I never really used the heel too much. Was going to pull it off my SG, but now I'm planning on switching out to the Jaybrake forward controls so I'll just leave it on until I get that.

The heel toe shifter felt odd to me at first and I thought about removing it. Others told me to give it a try because they really liked it, so I did and it grew on me and I like using it now. Like others have said, make sure it's adjusted as low as possible, it will make it more comfortable to use.

Put a heel shifter on my old '85 FXST after started having pains in my left hip. Pains went away. I've been using one ever since.

I never gave it a chance, it felt so unnatural that I removed it and put on the cap. I felt like my foot was going to get caught between the pegs.

On my road king I used it all the time, I would ride with my feet on the highway pegs bringing my foot down just long enough to slap it up, or down.
On my crossbone I don't have have engine guard / highway pegs, and I almost never use the rear shift lever.

Never got use to the hell toe technique. Yanked the heel off and got me a nice toe replacement and capped the exposed fitting.
