I've heard rumors about this, but I really didn't get the full spectrum until I owned one. I can't believe that there are some people who absolutely hate Harley's. I just can't understand that. When I go for a ride, I acknowledge everyone on two wheels regardless if its a crotch rocket or a metric cruiser. I ride with several guys that ride crotch rockets.
I just can't believe how many people loathe Harley's. It's actually comical to me....why waste your time?
The oldest Harley dealer in Ohio is right down the street from me, so this is a motorcycle town pretty much and for the most part, you don't get that crowd vs. crowd I ride this and that kind of crap. I dunno, I just can't grasp it.
I don't care what it is just ride it! I just can't see the big deal. Can't we all just get along! lol Some people will always like conflict I suppose.
How old ARE you? You know there are Chevy lovers and Ford haters? Some people still hate Japan for bombing a country we were in (Hawaii). Don't even get started with the Skippy Vs Peter Pan peanut butter controvercy!
There have always been haters of bikes by bikers that own other makes. Jap vs Harley, etc. Hell, it's nothing today. In the 40s and 50s, Indian and Harley riders REALLY hated each other. If you were riding an Indian, a Harley rider was liable to walk up and punch you in the head (or vice-a-versa). You don't see guys duking it out anymore just because of the bike they ride...now they just talk smack on internet forums. A lot less painful.
Yes, alot less painful, but still just as stupid. I've seen it on this forum, and I've seen it on other forums where the converstation is about seeing an import is stuck on the road, or a domestic is stuck on the road, and in every case, the thread owner is giddy about it. Are people that insecure that they have to point out whenever something goes wrong with anything other then what they own?
Most of them that seem to hate Harleys so bad really don't.They complain to others to hide their envy.It is the only way they live with the fact that they compromised by buying something other than a Harley. The ones that truly say they hate Harleys also hate a lot of other things.

Folks have to reinforce their choices by joining forums of typically like-minded folks to all sing kum bayah together. They do it here, there, everywhere, whether they're talking about skippy, peter pan, hats, boots, rubbers or toasters. "Hey I saw another one of those crap "_____" on the side of the road again. No surprise.. Hardy har har."
It's an inherent problem people have. They must belong to a sheeple herd and talk about the smell of the poop from the other sheeple herd.
With bikes, I stick to my motto...
"If it's got two wheels and the law ain't after you for stealing it, it's FUN!"
To the OP I am the same way, regardless of what the said person is riding if they throw me a wave i'll throw one back. It is a brotherhood of not just HDs but of the full spectrum of two-wheeled travel. I have an aquaintance that just last year bought a Victory Jackpot; beautiful bike with a larger engine, (which does not really matter all that much) and I overheard him somewhat slamming HDs but I kept my mouth shut. I went for a ride with him and he had nothing but good things to say about my ride, either way I don't give a ****. Let others sandbag you, if you love what you love which is your
HD **** it.
Well, I have owned many brands of bike through the years. I have a Honda Sabre 1100 CC and a HD Road King. My nephew and I went to Hooters Bike Nite, we entered the place for some wings and drinks, when we returned the Honda was totally, and purposely, splattered with sauce and chewing tabacco. The Harley was spotless even though they were sitting side by side. So who do you think is the hater here. It was obvious that some ignorant bastard decided to mess with the Jap bike. Never seen this happen the other way around.

Haters come in all forms, they are not exclusive to Harley Haters or Metric Haters. I ride what I want, when I want. If someone has an issue with that f@#$$*& them. For those implying that import riders are harley haters, you need to get out of your little circle of Harley friends and get to know other riders. Most people simply enjoy riding with out focusing on such negative vibes. Perhaps its your perception of the truth. Just get out and ride and try to make friends, no matter what the other person rides, that's if your pride allows you.

I've caught attitude from rider of metrics also, even when I'm on my Zuki. Usually since my bike is 800cc, it can be referred to as a chick bike, as the sportsters are. I don't give a rats ****. I like the looks of my bike. My previous bike was also an 800. The Zuki 800 engines are bullet proof. I was actully planning on either a 1300 VTX or the 1100 Sabre, but both were carbed. I sacrificed engine size for EFI in the price range that I wanted to spend at the time.
