I am amazed at all of the prompt responses. I wasn't gonna check til Monday but had a few minutes and appreciate all the feedback. Here's a few answers: Always had service by dealers, with the exception of one oil change at 35K by yours truely. As they performed the others figured if something should be done they'd do it and charge me. At 1K dealer installed exhaust, stage one kit, race tuner and dyno tuned. I never abused the bike and it never ate oil. 95% freeway miles. Brought it in for the 50K service and it was making more noise than usual. I like the tip about obtaining a larger engine for about the same price. Would like an independent mechanic but don't know of any in Orange County/LA area and second opinion makes sense - referrals anyone.
I vented originally due to the 50K breakdown and it appears my bike is in the minority - good for you all. Thanx again for the replys.

Wait a minute here,.... your bike was making noise, now it's all in pieces, and we have no clues on nuttin?
We been had fellas!
Da troll dun got us!
We try to be helpful, but instead nibbled on the worms of da troll.
Me might just be resigin' this stupid forum soon. I 'bout had enough of the school kid games.
So who is the blame?...The Motor Company? The shop that does the service? or the guy that owns the bike and rides it with the engine making all kinds of strange noises until it seizes up?[/QUOTE]
I missed this comment and the point is probably valid. I wear hearing aids but not when riding. Combine that with a full face helmet in the cold weather and louder than stock pipes means I never heard much of a difference until the day before bringing it in while wearing a half helmet. Could be that it just happended that day but maybe not. Bottom line to me if there was a service bulletine from HD to the dealer(s) or they had experienced problems in the past I would have hoped they could have alerted me when performing the maintenance schedule.
I'm not a troll - I just don't frequent the forum like I did when I first purchased the bike. Sorry I haven't been as timely with my responses as you would have liked. Thank you for the referral.
Dear Mr. Ed. This all came down on Friday and I'm waiting for a fax breakdown of everything which they couldn't provide due to the holiday. I don't recall all of the specifics the dealer explained over the telephone as I was in shock - expecting them to just tell me that the bike was ready for pick up for the 50K service. I've owned and ridden bikes for over 35 years but admit to not having mechanical knowledge - call me Cole Trickle I guess.
My fault that I put the trust in the dealers for maintenance and again I didn't notice any noise until pulling in the night before the service appointment - didn't seem all that loud.
after all 6 pages i read all i can say is I have already decided that if and when the day comes when the dealer tells me what your getting told. I will tell them throw all the pcs back in the box and iam on my way with the trailer. If iam spending $4,000 dollars then iam coming out of an indy shop with a 100Hp 100torque plus motor iam not coming out with a factory rebuild.
