I have not washed my bike since I bought it 2 years ago, just windex for bugs and a paint brush when it gets dusty. It doesn't rain much here and I haven't had much time since buying to get many long rides in.

I found that a good coat of dirt can help protect the finish from the harmful UV rays of the sun.

Heck, I am retired so I can do both. Riding is the first priority, it gets wiped down as needed, a full washing if caught in the rain and waxed about 4 times a year. In other words I ride and clean as needed after each ride.

I want the bike clean before riding. Only takes a few minutes to blow any dust/pollen off, then a dusting with a 'swiffer' type thing. If it's run in the rain, it gets washed before the next ride. A few coats of polish per season.

I do a quick wipe down before I put it up, bugs etc! I usually give it a good going over every weekend for an hour or so. Need to keep the Harley up it cost enough.

I'm doin' what pleases me under the circumstances. I do a fair amount of polishing see'in how I don't feel good enough to ride as much as I use to and as much as I would like to.
