I do both. I hate riding a dirty bike so I usually end up doing the clean up after I'm done riding. That way it is ready to roll the next day. Best of both worlds.....

I agree. Either you care or you don't, you are lazy or you're not.

If you're not, you do what you can with what you have; apartment dwellers and such having the harder time with it.
That said, you learn the shortcuts.
I've seen too many Pledged Pearls that have seen nothing but Pledge and look factory new - so I'm downsizing my quickwax collection to that.

Bugs are easy if they're fresh - quickwax again, microcloths ONLY.

Pollen season here - it sticks and air blowing doesn't get it all, so, a duster brush with a LIGHT spray of...you guessed it...Pledge...pulls it all off and leaves the shiny shiny.

2-3 full detail wash and waxes a year, including underneath.

Leaf blower dryoff after washing.

A bike jack makes wheel cleaning/polishing fast/easy. If no room, Harbor Freight has a wheel roller that you pull the wheel up on.

I have a full washstand in the drive, but if I didn't, I'd go to the spray wand places. The quickwax takes fast care of the water spots and adds a thin coat of wax.

Or ride a crapwagon; I don't care. Me Blingie much miles many time.

I'm not sure when this whole "how do YOU enjoy your ride" train of thought started.... but really.... who cares... do your thing, and let the rest do theirs
What is the "biker lifestyle"???
To an IBA it's one thing, to a cruiser it's another, to a bar hopper, it's different, and on and on.... how YOU enjoy your ride, is how you enjoy it.

Wouldn't the world be boring if we all did the same thing????

I don't wash my bike... I bring it in each year for a 20k service, and the goofy kid in the back washes it... (and probably cusses at me the whole time)

I got a wife. She takes care of washing it, I take care of working on it. We ride it together.

I clean mine about once a week, or before a show. I ride my bike also.
I guess its just making time for cleaning it or watching TV and laying on my a$$.

From the looks of my bike, I'm guessing you'd consider me a Chrome Queen. That's OK...... cause us ladies like our bling.
If you use a good polish... upkeep is minimal. A 10 minute damp wipe down to get the bugs off after a ride and we're good. I'd think chrome is easier to keep up than dark colors, which shows every speck. Just my opinion.
A 10 minute "damp wipedown" and I'm good to go too.
