Spending 26 years in the army, I got very used to my Danners. I have two pair, one with thinsulate for the winter, and a lighter one for the summer. I also have a pair of H-D's. Danners are the most comfortable and obviously a good walking/climbiing boot.
Don't know the name but mine are just high top laced work boots....look like most Motorcylce boots I've seen actually.
Many years of sandblasting got me used to wearing 8" high and pretty much all I can wear. Bought them at Walmart last year and very comfortable...well, my company bought them rather. I get a boot allowance once a year.
A few months ago I got a pair of Gates/tactical that are great for riding (mesh side vents to cool the tootsies) and excellent for walking for around $75. I felt my Harley boots made walk like Frankenstein so they are very clunky. The Gates are 9" high, NO steel toe, are as light as sneakers and have side zippers. I don't think you need a steel toe unless other riders park on your feet or you need to kick down a door. Doors, Hmmm...
Danner Ft. Lewis Gore-Tex boots for me. You can't beat Danner boots. Take care of them and they'll last forever. Cool in the summer and warm in the winter.
