So I took my scoot to the stealer for the 10k service (I know, I know....buy the service manual and some tools). This bike is new to me and has 16k on it, the last service was done at 5k. I wanted someone who knew what they were doing to go over it, for piece of mind.
The service tech told me the rear rocker box is "weeping" (on top) and the shift shaft seal is also "weeping" My question is how long is this gonna be managable before I can expect to have a real problem on my hands? I would just as soon try to get through the summer as is. Anyone had a similar leak or any input?
My shift shaft seal is also "weeping" and has or a couple years. I'll get around to it one day. You can't put a time on these things, all you can do is what is acceptable to you. My shift shaft seal is not bad enough for me to tear her down yet. Maybe next winter I'll replace it. BTW, I said that last spring.
Exact same problem except mine went from weeping to leaking within a few months. Had to get all new O rings and gaskets. Cost a pretty penny, but no more leaks.
