Angry bound to happen

OK It's finally happen, dropped the bike. All I was gonna do was check tire pressure for a trip out to Texas on Sat.Rolled it foward to get to the valve stem and bout the time I leaned it back on the stand,I heard the stand click in up position.Nothing I could do but get out of the way.The crash bars did their job though and stopped from going over, but what an empty feeling seeing the Ultra in that position.I remembered the video of the girl putting her back to her bike and lifting it with he legs so I tried that.Wouldn't budge.I had to call for help and it was all the two of us could do to get it back up.No damage except my pride but I'll get over it.

Yeah, I'm still wondering how that little "girl" lifted that big ol' bike. I can't do it yet, and I've tried it. More than once too!

Chalk it up to experience...

I think most guys with more than 20,000 or 30,000 miles on their bikes have probably dropped one at one point or another - sometimes situations just happen suddenly and there isn't much you can do.

Live and learn, (and watch out for sand when you put your foot down!)

Sounds like the bike is scared of going to Texas! ; ) Glad it wasn't worse.

Sorry to hear about the bike tip-over & you made the right choice to let it go b/c it could've been bad on your body to try & keep it up, or got underneath. These "pride hits" are the best to have - if it ever happens. Glad the scoot's undamaged & you can ride on!

Carol is a friend of mine. A petite operating room nurse, she has demonstrated this technique on Goldwings. She's a woman in her 60's and weighs about 110#. She's also a pretty fair rider and has done a couple of Iron Butts. It's all technique. I know how to do it right, but whenever I drop one I always just wrench it up and risk straining my back.

It's wise to wrap your engine guards with some old firehose, then lay it down...gently of course...and then practice picking it up the right way, from both sides. I ride a Road King and have accidentally laid my bike over into a snowbank a couple of times. I weigh about 160 and am a short-a---ed guy and have had no problem picking it up, even with a load on.

..
end of 5 day road trip...stop for that last gas/coffee/smoke before home..
coming out a parking lot a cage cuts me off..i make a sharp turn..slow down to a stop ...put my foot down in pothole...over the roadking goes.....wife tumbles off....i am still holding the bars...somehow i shove up it goes...and she is pulling from opposite ...fuggin thing flops over on the other side....all this with a parking lot full of rubber neckers....

top that for feeling like one of 3 stooges...i would have paid someone to haul it home in trailer right there if somebody was to offer...
