It's all a matter of choice. If you're riding long distances you'll appreciate the shield. I don't have one but it is just because I don't like the look of the bike with it on.

Welcome to Harley world! I am still sorting my windshield out. It's not an easy job removing it or adjusting it as it's not a quick disconnect. You will get some buffeting in different positions maybe. It was rather unpleasant with my 3/4 helmet/faceshield but with the 1/2 helmet and glasses it's much better and takes the wind blast off my chest. The side effect of that is my legs don't feel as stressed by trying to pull my body back against the wind. It may also be a factor that mine is not the shape it was mfg'd in but has been trimmed to fit the profile of the bike more. Not sure if that was a good thing.

you're right about this being the best forum.

welcome aboard... I got a detatchable shield on my '04 sporty... you'll definitely notice the difference at higher speeds... it really cuts down on wind fatigue.

As for me, I gave up bugs a long time ago...

Definitely! hehe

As stated in the other windshield thread. "man up" so you can look cool.

Personally, I do not like windshields. But, that is a personal preference. I really like the wind, even at 75 to 80 mph. Now bugs, that is a different story. wish i could have the wind without the bugs and other debris that hits me in the face.

My bike came with a windshield. Lasted about 50 miles. I don't like the buffeting and slight distortion when going through twisties. I also think they're aesthetically bankrupt, but what the hell. Whatever floats yer boat.

OH MY GOD! It's windy riding a motorcycle! LOL. I like 'em but only if they are attached to a fairing, otherwise they look like a misfitting add-on. Nice in the cold though.
