My wedding ring has a built in locator that can find me wherever I'm at. If the ring ever happens to slip off my finger for some reason, it will start beeping loudly and my cell phone automatically rings:
"Are you at the strip club again"? "Of course not dear". "My finger was itching and I only took my ring off for a second to scratch it".

I'm planning and Iron Butt ride, and I made the joke to my friends that I'll set up my cell phone with Google Latitude so they can track me if they want. Then I mention it to the wife and say this way I don't have to call in and let you know I'm ok 3-4 times....she looks at me and says "Why the hell would I want to track you, you'll be gone for a day. That's all I care about"
My buddy has one of those Spot trackers for when he is in the bush. He spends a lot of time hiking alone. He likes it for the emergency 911 beacon more than the tracking. His wife likes the tracking. I imagine having one would help in the event of an accident on the bike.
That said, on a recent road trip/stag using Google Latitude was great for meeting up. Sadly, most rural areas around here don't support 3G.
