We were at the 50 cal range the other day and while i was getting some rounds out of a brand new water tight sealed 50 cal ammo can i got the idea that it would make a pretty bad *** storage box on my bike. I have a 09 softail custom and i was wondering if i rigged up some kind of way to mount it off the front right fork on the opposite side of the brake calliper would it effect my handling preformance or jack up anything? i just thought it would look cool and give me some extra space to stick a map, chem lights, tool box or whatever.
I've got to think it would probably be unwieldy at best, unrideable at worst if you loaded it up. If you had it mounted above the axle height you could really unbalance the front end with any amount of weight in it, and mounting it at or below the axle would just look........weird.
As the other post said, why not mount it as a rear bag? or mount a couple of them?
