there needs to be a little common sense, some things of course we're forced to buy foreign. other things we do have a choice and i don't see what's wrong with buying american, or stuff that employs americans (manufactered or assembled here).
i don't agree with purchasing pakistani jackets, that money could very well be going directly to kill our soldiers in afghanistan. pakistan houses more al qaiada than afghanistan, and the country on a whole despises americans. i can't understand anyone going out of their way to support them.
an no way are those pakistani jackets as nice as your schott jackets.
I was at the Harley Dealer last night for an event and was checking out the new gear.
Wife and I really liked the HD Branded Jackets.
They were $500 each but figured, why not its genuine Harley.
Up at the counter I caught a glimpse of the tag and it said:
"MADE IN CHINA"
What they hell I said, I thought this was genuine gear?
Girl says, yes sir it is...
I say if it ain't Made in USA it ain't genuine.
She looked at me with blank eyes, so I asked to talk to the manager.
He told me all the HD Gear is Chinese made now.
I can't believe this...
Is there no HD Branded gear made here?
Nothing so new about that, I bought a pair of "Harley" boots from my dealer in '93, they were made in China back then. Still have them as a matter of fact.
My God....I'm diggin' it! This is better than a post on oil, seat, or pipe preferences. I haven't been able to tear myself away from a single reply. Ya kickin' ***, people!!
I've never seen the above referenced web site till just now while doing a search for such sites, but it looks like it might be fun and worthy of exploration.
[quote=OldFenderGuy;6982403]I remember those days....
Anymore just about any Made in Japan product is very high quality (and has a price tag to match)....
It's amazing how much Japan farms out to Korea, Taiwan and Vietnam...Looks like thay have Westernized and suffered from production costs like all other Capitalist economies...China is beginning to go thru this right now too!!!
Show me where their leathers are made in the USA. I can't find it anywhere on their site. Just "building the World's Finest Motorcycle Leathers". Just asking.
Read the history section of the company. You'll learn a lot !

WTF, Why give the sales girl a bunch of heat, Buy the damn thing or move on. The lady selling it is just another American trying to make a house payment.
I choose not to wear HD stuff because the jackets are to long for me 5'6". But HD stuff is quality. And they stand behind it.
