Made in China?
I was at the Harley Dealer last night for an event and was checking out the new gear.
Wife and I really liked the HD Branded Jackets.
They were $500 each but figured, why not its genuine Harley.
Up at the counter I caught a glimpse of the tag and it said:
"MADE IN CHINA"
What they hell I said, I thought this was genuine gear?
Girl says, yes sir it is...
I say if it ain't Made in USA it ain't genuine.
She looked at me with blank eyes, so I asked to talk to the manager.
He told me all the HD Gear is Chinese made now.
I can't believe this...
Is there no HD Branded gear made here?

Ok, so I may be a newbie, but I don't understand why they made the switch.
We pay a premium for our ride for a reason.
I for one would pay top dollar for US made gear as would most of the guys I know.
Is there not a single US based manufacturer licensed by Harley Davidson?

They made the switch cause of bigger profit margins. 80% of your bike is not made in America. Just like Chevy, Ford...etc most stuff is made elsewhere then assembled here. I give this post about 10 minutes before some one blames unions. Thats usually where these threads end up

You'll see more and more of that since it only costs a few cents per piece to put something in a shipping container and transport it overseas and you can't pay American workers low enough to make it here competitively. I see a time where most of the parts in Harleys are made over there and only assembled here if fuel prices stay as they are.

We only have about 30,000,000 cows here. Why do they need to import leather?
