Made in China?
Visit the shop where they build the finest leathers, I have been there several times in Portland on Division street. I am lucky to need to go to the Pacific Northwest for work.
Just telling
For the last 53 years I thought I had been made in Tennessee. I need to have a long talk with my parents.
There are 2 family members who work at the shop, and we also have a dozen others who share in the production responsibilities. All production is done on one of 4 cutting tables, and 8 sewing machines. As what must surely be a modern business anomaly, one can enter a single room and order a custom jacket, watch it being cut and then sewed all from the same vantage point!
While we usually build 6 garments per day, it usually takes from a few weeks to a few months to build a custom set of leathers, depending on how many orders we have. A garment can usually be cut in a half day, with the sewing taking place several days later. Depending on the difficulty of the garment, it can take another day or more to sew up. The leathers are cut by a single cutter, and sewn by a single seamstress. No mass production assembly lines can be found at Langlitz!
If you have a chance to visit us and are interested in seeing how we build the leathers, just ask for a tour. You will probably find our space cramped and our tools rather primitive, but it works for us. And ... its the same way Ross did it more than a half century before.

I don't have authentic HD leather gear, got mine custom made here for less money than the real thing that wouldn't fit me right anyway. Just looked, all my HD shirts are made in Mexico, Honduras, an Guatemala...I wonder if it's because I order them through Las Vegas HD?
edit add: It's interesting that this topic starts a new thread just about the same time the previous one fell off the first page in the section.

I have an Alpinestars leather jacket...very nice also...and also made in China. So much for Italian leather.
My God....I'm diggin' it! This is better than a post on oil, seat, or pipe preferences. I haven't been able to tear myself away from a single reply. Ya kickin' ***, people!!

I've never seen the above referenced web site till just now while doing a search for such sites, but it looks like it might be fun and worthy of exploration.
Cheers!

I have been seeing this discussion for years now about firearm optics...made in China or Japan or US, etc. ****. The Jap stuff is GTG. The discussion is usually about how the Chicom stuff is ****. But some of it is getting better as they go along. I would prefer all US made, but we have priced ourselves out of the world markets. It is so bad we don't even have a manufacturing base worth a **** anymore.
The Best of Harley-Davidson for Lifelong Riders
Having worked for Polaris Spirit Lake for two years, I know where the parts come from. I know how Victory is assembled. I know who assembles them. I know their line reject rates. I know their weak spots. I know their strong points.
My Marysville, OH. assembled Goldwing has as much legitimacy calling itself an "American" bike as does any Victory, past or present.
You like Polaris? Cool. You like Harley? Cool. But don't play patriot games. There's no such thing as an "American" bike anymore and hasn't been for years.
