Ft. Flagler, just south of Ft. Worden, has some Batteries still in place, as does Ft. Casey on Whidbey Island across the water from Ft. Worden/Pt. Townsend. They formed what was called the "Triangle of Fire". All guns were Zeroed in on the middle of the Strait to catch any invading Surface Ships in a Cross-Fire. Pretty interesting history and explanation at the Museum at Ft. Worden.
Actually I wondered about that. I couldn`t think of any emplacements at Ft. Worden except the Concrete Batteries out toward the point where the Lighthouse is, and where the Old Gunnery Observation/Range Finder tower was before they tore it down.
But then I suffer from severe CRS.....lol

Yeah I got that CRS too, as confirmed by the title of the Thread.
When I go out there I usually sit at the picnic tables in front of the Concrete Batteries and stare out at the Strait while smoking a cigar.
I`ve often thought that I would like to have seen those places during firing practices during their HeyDay. Bet it would have been something to see. Especially the disappearing Artillery/Naval guns.
I can`t think of the name of the place out west of Pt. Angeles, but have you ever been to the concrete bunkers out there that mounted 16" naval rifles during WWII..?? They mounted the same 16" guns as used on the South Dakota Class and Iowa Class Battleships. You can drive through one of the bunkers where they have an HE and Armor piercing round used in the guns. At the point where they are mounted, they will reach Vancouver Island.
