looking at picking up this 2000 Ultra "not a true HArley" for $1000 from a co worker. this thing has been neglected. For a grand and only 6500 miles it looks like a decent deal. It has a 113 S&S motor so that alone is worth the investment.
An Ultra used to be a pretty expensive bike. It's not a Harley, but if it has good papers it's worth more than $1000. If the engine is free you may just be looking at a lot of elbow grease to clean it up. If the engine isn't free a little penetrating oil in the sparkplug holes should take care of that. From there it's up to you. Sounds like a bargain.
It's probably worth a grand but there's nothing "Ultra" about it. It's a softail with a windshield and soft bags. Much more closely resembles a Heritage.
Not knowing what the mechanical condition is for the leather I would get some Skidmores for all of the leather, and some Neverdull for all of the chrome..and find a big jug of Elbow grease..and a neighbor kid...looks like a nice project ..
I'd jump all over that without a second thought. With only $1,000 in it, you could part out half the bike and make you money back if you had to. Can't imagine a more perfect project.
