32 VID you sure have a low opinion of sportsters
I agree the 72 superglide was a cool bike but a 72 XLCH would easily out run it.
Sure sportsters are small but for good reason. In the 1950's Harley wanted a light weight high performance bike to counter all the Triumphs and BSA's that were entering the US market. If you wanted a big twin in the 50's/60's it came wrapped in a 800lb FLH and of course they were slow. The XLCH was the superbike of it's day. Yes inline 4's ended all that in the early 70's but sportsters remained Harley's best performing model until the V-rod came out. Yes a TC-96 Dyna will run with a 1200 sportster but it needs an extra 400cc to do it.

And then you draw the line at Victory's ? does that mean you will never "stoop that low" ? why are they poser harleys ?

I sorry you just found this out but I have made this known on several occasions here on HD forums. I've never kept it a secret.

I do suspect your reading comprehension level though. I do ride. I ride my son's 09 Nightster at least once a week, and ride it about every 3 weeks throughout the winter.

Just can't afford a used Super Glide let alone a new 883.

As to the Victory comments, I know Schumacher won't let them go by. As to being a riding snob that's not me I said I'd ride a Honda Rebel if I could afford one just to ride with my son.

For a person that is knowledgeable as you, you should know that people here poke fun at non Harley's first, then someone that loves Electraglides get on the Sportster owners. It's called ribbing.

Yes you are 100% correct. That and I will add to what you said about keeping up with the Sportsters "the TC-96 will run with the Sportsters" but has a lot nicer ride and can lean more than a Sportster. Even though it's only one more degree of lean angle, it's still more.

I was hoping to hear more about the suspension diffrences as I thought we were talking about Dyna vs Softail leaving Cruisers and Sporters out of it. Anyhow I'm just thankful we all have some great choises.

Wow, page 10 and everyone has gone way off track with my original question. I asked about rubber mounting softys and we end up hating Sportsters LOL. But, it was fun to read.

No, but I've known people who have. Gibson says the plant is in Bozeman, but it's really in Belgrade, the next town over. Must be a tough place to work, as the turnover is very high and the pay is pretty low. They tend to attract would-be or once-were construction guys, and they also employ more illegal "day laborers" than anyone else in the valley. (Where do you think all these cabinet guys and finish carpenters get all those exotic hardwoods that they use in the vacation homes around here? )

The acoustic plant is not really set up for tours like their Nashville or Memphis plants, but a ride out here is worth it anyway, Gibson or no Gibson.

If you do decide to ride out this way, PM me.

Dynas and Sportsters do have basic similarities in geometry (and in styling, some models), but the Dyna frame is not simply a Sportster frame "supersized" another 10%. It is its own thing.

Yup.

I haven't either. Maybe that "jerkiness" is the factory-tuned EFI at low RPMs? Get that engine running higher in its powerband and it goes away.

If I ever rode a bike that gave some feedback/"jerkiness" as a result of the frame design......I'd get off in a hurry

bejewell,
Poser?
I ride all year. I ride a Nightster every week. About every three weeks during the winter months.

Poser because I can't afford my own?

Because I won't ruin my credit rating to keep the repo man employed?

Jealous because you don't have a son/family member that gave you the key to their bike to keep and said use it when ever you want.

Being you can't knock my facts you chose to knock me.
