We had heated grips on our '08, and when we tried to put them on the '09 one dealer said they couldn't be installed, but a second dealer managed the job. We are touring right now, and the fuse blew, just had it changed this morning in Apache Junction, AZ. He is going to avoid putting them on high because we will need them as we head north. They are very handy in the high altitudes of the back roads of Utah and New Mexico.

Then a heated **** ring to keep your pecker from getting cold. Doubles as a wienie roaster too - cook lunch while you ride!

I use the Gerbing heated gloves. This works well since I have 2 bikes. I'd like to have heated grips but don't want to deal with the install & price. I'd go heat demons if I did anything.

FWIW, I'm upgrading my gloves. Gerbing has a newer model called the G3. I've tried them on and they are worlds better than my old school ones. They use "micro-wire" technology and they aren't bulky at all. Gloves are better than grips if its really cold or you are on a long ride. And if it's really cold I'll be wearing my heated liner too so hooking up the gloves is easy. Once that stuff is on its like riding in a car. You can go all day and not be cold.

first winter riding and never thought about heated grips till this morning when i got to work and my hand were frozen for another hour. couple of questions..

- are the grips as they are when you see them on line or do they go underneath a nice aftermarket grip?

- what are the generally considered the 2 best heated grip buys for the money?

any good winter glove suggestions incase i opt for that instead? i ride 25 miles to work at 30-80 mph traffic depending in NY, so 20-40 degrees F in the mornings

thanks

Don't waste your money on the HD grips. They SUCK!! Mine burned out in 4 months. (only 90 day warranty)see where I'm going with this! Wasted a lot of money on them. Next ones will be aftermarket. Maybe they will last longer

Used mine for the first time today (just rolled in). I don't yet have winter weight gloves and was cruising crosscountry wearing my mesh gloves. Got a bit chilly.

Then it hit me! I've got heated hand grips!

Only needed the setting on "2" and it was a very comfortable ride from that point on.

So, yeah, get 'em, use 'em!

My hands are currently freezing in insulated gloves. Looked at heated grips but the advice I get is if you are going to get a heated jacket liner or have one, is get heated gloves instead as they work better although they are more pricy at ~$150 for a good pair. Gloves keep your fingers and back of your hand warm in sub 40F temps.
