Default Heated grips

how many of you have them, and you think they're worth the money?

I have them on all three of my BMWs, and they're great. That way on a 50°F morning I can wear summer gloves and not have cold hands (colder weather, I use heated gloves/jacket liner/pants liner/insoles as appropriate down to 3°, my coldest commute so far.)

I have them on my 2009 Ultra. So far, so good. Had them on my 2007 Road King, and two pairs of the H-D grips have failed. Junk, just plain junk, and I expect the Ultra grips to fail as well.

Currently I'm installing Hot Grips on my Kawasaki KLR 650. They are relatively cheap ($150 including the epoxy and switch housing) and seem very well-made and comfortable. I turned them on for 45 minutes (using a car battery to help cure the epoxy per directions) and even on LOW, they come up to temperature quickly and were quite warm.

I have a set of Hot Grips for the Road King, along with a Joker Machine throttle tube (which you need since the holes for the throttle and idle cables are part of the right-side grip) and they are next on my list for installation. I also bought a throttle tube for the Ultra, which has the mating gear for the throttle-by-wire machined into the tube.

Heated grips are excellent for chilly mornings. Much more convenient than plugging in heated gloves.

i have them and am glad i do. The thing i like the best is i can use them and still wear summer gloves when it is in the 40's, and they also work great on damp cool days. just my 002.

It is 93 degrees right now in Los Angeles. Couldn't you guys wait a month before talking about heated grips.

I have them and am glad I did. Lots of people complained about them burning out. Mine (knock wood ) have been flawless.

Went through 2 sets when I had the 07 Ultra. the 2nd set was out when I traded for the SG, I have not invested in anymore since I had such poor luck with them. They were the HD heated grips. Very expensive if you consider the dealer installing them. I would love to have a set for the SG but, don't know which way to go in getting a reliable set. I have to buy 2 of everything, wife has to get whatever I get

Dont throw your money away on the HD ones. Buy an aftermarket brand. Do a search and youll find the HDones just doent last. My 2010 Ultra came with them and after six months....guess what? YEP!!

I've had the Harley grips on my Dyna for a year and a half (installed them myself so I didn't think they were that expensive). So far they work fine. One thing I found is that you don't wear gloves with heavily padded palms or you loose the effect of the heated grips. Below 40 degrees my fingers still get cold so I just bought a pair of Hippo hands for winter. Along with the heated grips I should be able to ride in really cold or rainy weather without my hand freezing.

It's about comfort. Once you've had heated grips you'll *really* miss not having them. BMW's and Honda's heated grips seldom fail. But for some reason HD's expensive heated grips are problematic. After a year the heated grips on my 09 (dealer installed) only worked on off, or full on, rather than settings 1-6. Dealer did replace them under the 2 year warranty and they work great now. I love them, fingers crossed though.
