Hello All, this is my first time on here and I am also a first time Harley Owner. Finnaly Did it! I am having issue though I bought a 2009 Crossbones. It had 58 miles on it and has its original Harley warranty untill May 2012 and extended warranty till 2015. I have riddin it now and acquired 504 miles. Yesterday and today the bike started what i call is backfiring. When it does this, it is like a backfire then dead silence, speedometer drops to zero then kicks back all normal really quick. This happens randomly. This morning was mainly down the turnpike in 5th gear about 55 to 60 mph. I have also noticed at night on highbeam my headlight seems to go brighter and dimmer sometimes. Any Ideas. I have only had it a week and the dealer hasnt got my owner manual to me yet?
Most likely an electrical connection. You might check your battery terminals to see if they are tight. Your owners manual is not going to help you with this issue. Take it back to your dealer.
Thank you sir. I will check my connections. I called the dealer this morning when i got to work but they are an hour away and i couldnt get there today. I was hoping not to get stranded this evening on my way home.
Well I tried redoing my battery cables before i left work yesterday and i made it home without a hitch. But this morning on my way to work i noticed my little red key light started flashing often then trying to stay on then it completely shut my bike down, it wasnt electrical power dead all my little warning lights were on just shut the engine off and the fire i was trying to restart it but it would just crank and sometimes it wouldnt crank. So I redone the battery cables again and it got me here but it was trying to shut down again same senerio? Needless to say I am trailering it to Harley in the morning. Im wondering if it is the alarm system or my battery in my key fob or ECM?
Hey all, I took my bike to harley this morning and they say it was just my chassis ground being loose. Im keeping my fringers crossed. I didnt think to check it while checking everything else... I didnt know a new bike could rattle a chassis ground that loose already and make it throw that many error codes and have such problems.
