I am looking for anything that shows the oil capacities for all the models throughout the last 20 or so years. I do a lot of oil changes for people and searching the web everytime I get a different model is sometimes cumbersome. Anybody have something like this, or is it right in front of my face?
I'm not sure I buy off on not using regular oil in air cooled motors. I drove a Vdub for years with no troubles. What about the glorified 911's. What about all the air cooled mowers and generators? Granted they don't run split weights, but still use automotive oils. I wait to be corrected. Or enlightened.
I know this will probably start a scit storm but,
I just don't buy this change the oil thing. We have been brainwashed since birth that you must change the oil. Well, I am a non-conformist. I don't change oil unless the vehicle runs hot or the oil gets water in it or is some other how contaiminated.
I have had cars and trucks with 250 to 295 thousand miles on them and still running with the same oil for at least 60 to 80 thousand.

The guys out here in So Cal that road race those air cooled 911's that I have spoken with use Brad Penn, I figure they abuse the hell outta those motors in the heat out here so I am using it as well.

Father in law used to buy a new Caddy every yr ( TN also), he never changed oil either,,, put near 40k miles a yr on them..
I checked his oil one summer when we visited,, it was like black molasses and smelled burnt.. and Yeah it was smoking already.
I asked him when was his last oil change, he LOL and said I buy a new one every yr so I don't change it, just add a qt when low....

My dad had much the same opinion -- his idea of an oil change was to "change the filter and add a quart."
