Have not been around for awhile. I try to avoid thinking about my bike. Just bought a new 2010 Dyna Super Glide Custom last December. Started riding quite a bit as soon as the weather turned decent, by June I had 4600 miles on it, all decked out with the trim I wanted and boom my vertigo kicked in and I was unable to ride it most of the rest of the year. It is now sitting in the garage with less than 5000 miles on it and I just dont feel comfortable riding it.
This damned vertigo is ruining my life and none of the doctors I see have any answers or relief. I really miss riding the bike and envy all of you lucky folks who can ride your bikes.
Ride more and enjoy it, you never know when something may take that joy away from you.
I am still hoping for a cure, but it sure makes me sick to see it sitting there idle and also to think I have $16,000 in the bike, add ons and spare parts and I would be lucky to get $9-10,000 out of it if I were lucky.
Enjoy riding and god willing I may be waving at you soon.
Severe Vertigo and Nausa is not good while riding !!!!
I feel your pain ! After a severe inner ear infection several years ago I developed Menears Disease (I think that is how you spell it) and had several attacks of vertigo (no fun at all) but I have not had a attack in the last couple of years. I carry meclizine with me all the time just in case. The meclizine is like a industrial strength Dramamine for taking away the vertigo. So far I have been able to ride (that is when there is no snow and ice up here in North Dakota) but I have to be careful just in case ! The very best to you and ride safe.
Man I have the same problem. Came on me back in 2004 and doctors can not figure it out either. What I have been taking to help a great deal to handle it is "Meclazine" (spelling) used to have a perscription, now you can buy it over the counter. Night and day difference!!!!
Hope this helps ya!!!
I also carry meclizine with me at all times. My brother in-law also had vertigo cause by an infection in his spinal cord and the meclizine didn't help him. He ended up going for theraphy and that helped him.
I hope you find out the cause and get some relief soon.
Steve,
I don't live too awfully far from you.
Would you like me to come up and take it for a spin so it's not just sittin there depressing you?
I'll tell you all about it when I get back.
That should pick up yer spirits!
Right?!?
Just kidding, sorry.
Have you seen someone about this, internist, psychotherapist, bartender?
I know I'd pop my own eardrums with an ice pick if I had this problem.
Hope you get it worked out.
That sucks Man, I hope you can find something that will help.
I have a real bad back ( I know not the same ) I don't care how much it hurts I ride then deal with it later.
