For those of us that have to wear helmets ..... what do you do with them when you stop somewhere? leave em on the bike, lock em, take em with you? I'm in Ca and usually if something isnt locked, nailed or bolted down, theres a good chance of losing it ..... not talking or worried about other riders.
I take it with me, kind of a pain sometimes, but I just don't trust people. Only exception is when I'm at a motorcycle dealer (HD or not). I feel safe leaving all my gear on the bike in the presence of other riders. Maybe thats weird.
Depends on where I am. If I'm just running an errand and won't be away from the bike long, I'll just take it with me. With my FF, I have a 5' cable lock, which works well to lock up my leather jacket and helmet. With my 3/4, I hang it on a highway peg so it's not so visible, and hope some dirtbag doesn't steal it.
I have a five foot bicycle cable lock that I run through my helmet, jacket, and removable backrest this method is not going to stop a determined thief but a meth head would look else where for easier pickings.
I have one of these H-D parts on the left side of my crash bar so the helmet hangs away, not into, the engine. More times than not I just hang it on the lock's clasp by the helmet's D Rings without even locking it. Cheap and works great.

Most of the time I leave mine on the seat or mirror and hope for the best.
I did have one come up missing one night. My extra was strapped to the sissy bar in front of a bikini bar one night. I had brought it to take one of the girls home. Turns out, her husband had taken it. I got it back a few days later.
