Ya, I know, do a search. There is SO much on cam chain tensioners I'm going nuts. Up date to the new style oil pump, plate and hydraulic adjusters or gears? Andrews or SE? cams? I'm stage one, open pipe and all stock. Andrews 37N grind? I never want to open her up again and I would do this over the winter. Thanks!
I'll eliminate half the options. You have an '03, first year HD got cheap and put a crappy INA bearing where the 99-02 models had the Timken Lefty bearing for crank shaft support.
I have the gear drive cams on my '00 and love them, but after '02 I'd get hydraulic tensioners with the newer oil pump and the cams that go with them. You won't have to worry about 'crankshaft runout.'
For cam choice I'll let the guys who know more than I tell you which one(s.)
na dont search ask!! i get sick of the guys that chime in and say search! its a harley forum, not a library or search engine!!
now i have andrews 37 cams, good power, a bit lumpy,i hear great things about woods cams
as for the hydraulic cam chain tensioner upgrade that is definately in my plans
good luck!
Do the conversion and skip all that crank run out hub bub. Cams are a personal choice, lots of good resources though, figure out where you ride in the rpm range and picture where you want the power and then commit and buy the damn things and throw them in.

Don't limit yourself to just Andrews or SE cams. Woods, Cycle Rama, S&S, Crane, Dave Mackie, Headquarters, TMan,(just to name a few) all have great cams for different applications.
Personally, I opted for gear driven cams. Camshaft runout was within tolerances, and the INA bearings were swapped out for Timken bearings during the installation. Haven't had any problems whatsoever. My next set of cams will also be gear driven.
I agree with the afore mentioned. Dont worry about the guys that fire off with "do a search first"... Do a little research, post a question and wade through some of the guys that really dont want to help... heres what i think...
+1 on the new hyd. tensioners...
+1 on the new oil pump...
+1 on Timken bearing...
I did all three on my recent build.
I also went with the S.E camplate.
As for cams, call Tman. If you arent going to do any other mods (big bore or heads) i think youll like the TR-525. But, he will ask what kind of power you want to make, what kind of riding you do the most, where you spend most of yout time in RPM range ect ect... Hes a great resource, helped me out alot with mine.
