I just purchased a set of screaming eagle slip on's and I'm very disappointed in the sound. They are not really any louder than stock except a little deeper sound. I bought them because I've heard other SE on the same bike I ride 06 Ultra Classic and their pipes sound great. The dealer sold me the one's that he said fit my bike but they don't sound nothing like what I've heard. I also had the Stage I kit and calibration as well.
The number he sold me is 80463-06. Did I get the wrong pipes or will they eventually burn out a little and sound better later????? Please help!!!
the SE's that sound good were for the 06 "for race only pipes"
I undeerstand they are no longer made,
you have to find a dealer that has them left over on a shelf
I assume it is the 07 ones. That's what I have and they sound nothing like the ones I had on my 91 sporty. They made them street leagle now (80 decibles) They will open up a little and are louder then stock, but if you want loud they are not the way to go.
I have the Screamin Eagle Pro one-piece performance mufflers on my EGC. I got them back in May with the bike as part of the Stage One upgrade. They are "race only". Part No. 64903-99. I understand that they are no longer available from H-D. I got mine just before they discontinued them. If you check around for that part number you might still find some left over stock someplace. At a cruise they have a nice deep rumble and are not noisey enough to attract the attention of LEO's. But if you roll on the throttle they really open up. Not as loud as drag pipes, but they do bark!
64910-99 is the part # on the SE Pro slip-ons that I have on my RK, there is a few dealers that have a couple in stock still. Call around maybe you will find a pair, good luck.
I will try to find the 64903-99 but I know our local dealer only had the one set that fit my bike. I ran Vance & Hines and also Python III's on other bikes. Trying to tone it down on this bike but would like more sound. Guess I made a bad decision - maybe they will get louder with time.
Anyone know a good pipe with the deep rumble that is about half as loud as the V&H and has that deep rumble?
Yup - HD stopped making the SE IIs (race only) version because of noise & EPA liability concerns. They've been taking a lot of heat over sound problems.
The SE I's don't have the sound nor the power gain that the SE IIs gave.
I struggled with this as well - I wanted the SE IIs. Couldn't find any dealers in my state that had any left in stock.
They definitely have the deep rumble (I think more so than SE IIs), but they aren't really quiet. I don't think anybody makes what I was looking for (perhaps a little quieter than SE IIs). These are apparently comparable to SE IIs, maybe just a hair louder. I just compared them with a friend who has V&H with quiet baffles, and the Khrome Werks are not as loud.
Anyway, these were the quietest that I could find that had the sound and performance I was looking for (on my Dyna anyway).

Shazhog, my brother bought a set of those slip-ons today, his required the end caps on them. Started it up and it sounded pretty puny. A little bit better when you leaned on it a little but not much. We took the end caps off and drilled out the rivets and pulled the guts out of it and cut off the long pipe just behind the cat and then re-installed it. It sounds a lot better at idle and has a pretty nice bark when you get on it. Not as loud as a lot of them but it sure sounds better. Good luck, Stafford
