I have used a pair of gloves from HF for three years now. The fingers and palm are carbon fiber cloth. Finger tips have two layers. They were $20. Don't have a pic but will take one in the am and post.
They should be as resistant to abrasion as any glove could be.
Carbon fiber has a number of qualities, resistance to tearing and abrasion are not among them - get a glove with kevlar in the palm. CF in a glove is a sales gimmick.
When it starts to get pretty chilly, and before I have to go to heated gloves, I wear the HD Windshielder gauntlet gloves. Great gloves but what really helps out is wearing a pair of REI Smartwool glove liners inside them. I started doing this last year and the liners make a HUGE difference.
The other thread running on heated liners got me to check the Gerbing's site. They've got some new heated gloves on there, some with battery packs. I'm thinking these might be just the ticket for standing the flag line at PGR missions as well as riding.
Those are some nice looking deerskin gloves...wonder how they compare to the Lee Parks, which are more than 2x as much?
I couldn't comment on the quality difference between the two, but I can tell you that Chilhowee's are an excellent quality glove and fit my hands near perfect. I like having the gel palm.

My local Indy sells ZR1 gloves. They all have gel in the palms. I have a lighter perforated pair for summer, and a heavier spring/fall that has rubber knuckle protectors. They are only about $22.
I have Gauntlet gloves for Winter, not a brand name but they are soft and fit like a glove. You know what I mean.
