If you can afford it trade up and roll. If not just mod yours til your happy. It's a Harley. There is always a new mod, colours, saddle bag that will keep you wanting something else.
Just go straight to the RG and be done with it. Just kidding, but seriously, if you think you made a mistake with the Fatboy Lo, it might make sense to cut your losses before spending more $$$ on the bike, and get what you want.
Well...the title of the thread is "Anyone else gone through this situation??" Now it appears that everyone is giving opinions on what you should do, so....to answer the question....it doesn't appear that anyone else has gone through this situation....including me.
But...to keep in line with everyone else's comments....just keep the one you have for as long as you feel comfortable, then get the RK.
OR
If you can afford it, just go buy the RK right now and keep both.
JMHO
ok been there done that. Main thing to realize is any mods you do will not get a dime more for at the dealer. So if you do it don't do anything to the Lo. Took everything I could off my Heritage just took the hit trading to an ultra. Never looked back.
Yes, I felt that way too.
I got my FXDC, now looking at the FLD as I love the stock upgraded engine, bags etc... Then again I should buy the Road King which I wanted last year which I love. The reality is there will always be a bike in the future that you'll like better. Maybe next year they come up with an updated RK for the Anniversary edition and you'll be kicking yourself for not waiting one year.
I'd say keep the FatBoy, don't get carried away with mods, as somebody suggested n another thread, do mods that you can convert easily back to stock and sell the accessories separate as they will be valued zero if you trade your bike in.
Get a fully loaded Ultra Classic, because that's what you'll want next. Then once you have the Ultra you'll wish you had a sportster to scoot around on. lol Happens to us all.
