I bought a new 2011 Fatboy Lo in April 2011. I was content with the bike and recently visited a HD dealer to return some Xmas gifts. While there, I saw a new 2012 RK in Midnight Pearl. Now I can't seem to get it out of my mind. I'm kicking myself for not test driving the RK last spring (I test rode the Fatboy and Fatbob). I have some upgrades I want to do to the Lo, saddlebags and bars, but am hesitant to put money into it when deep down I am dreaming about trading my current ride in for a RK. Part of me says be happy with what you have and make it yours.....the other says trade for that beautiful RK and take the butt whooping on the trade in value.
Any advice for those who can relate?
Went through almost the same thing.
I bought a new 2011 Heritage Softail and then about 9-months later, traded it for a 2012 Limited.
I liked the Heritage, but I should have spent more time and bought the Limited to begin with.
As much money as I threw at the Heritage, in the end, It would still have not been the bike I wanted. I decided to take the hit and get the Tourer.
Did you ever test ride the RK? You may have thought it was a beautiful bike but after a ride you may be glad you kept your LO. Seating is very different.
Haven't ridden one, just in love with the looks. I am planning on putting bags on my Lo and already have a shield. Maybe the best thing could happen is I hate the ride and that would save me some money.

Upgrades like Leather Pros basketweave saddlebags with matching lowers and trunk bag..If I
ever get a Fatboy that will be my setup.....
I bought a 2011 Deluxe in 2010. After pipes, stage 1 AC, tune, Carlini bars, LePera seat and some other stuff....I just couldn't stop lusting after the Street Glide. Sooooooo....I took about a $6K hit and bought the Street Glide....and I'm beginning the mod process all over again.
almost had a softail, but went with the dyna, and am really happy i did. The RK is to heavy for me to really enjoy. i was sure i was gonna get the st, but ended up with the street bob ( with forward controls and a mustang seat / backrest), super comfy on long rides at 80 mph and pulls through the twisties as nicely as my sportster. If you bought your ST based on the handling, i say stay with the ST.
That is just my opinion
The question -"Anyone else gone through this situation?" ...yes, happend to me, look your money situation, then test ride the RK, think in pros and cons, make your mind, ...if you keep your bike, don't go back to that dealer!! ..lol BTW I still have my bike, just putting some money in savings to buy the other one!!

ive been there, i traded a 2010 heritage for a 2012 roadking. the heritage was very comfortible, but there nothing like the king. rides like a catilac and love the cruise control. i dont know why i didnt look at the rk when i bought the heritage. coming from the heritage it does take some getting used to, the sitting position is differant. picked up rk in october so only was able to put 500 miles on it before the weather went sour, now all i can do is look at it in the garage and wait for spring. good luck (GO FOR IT ,GET THE ROADKING)
