Default Front cam snap ring

Getting all the tools together for my cam job, and need to get a pair of pliers that will fit in that retaining ring. Anybody know how big the holes are? The only snap ring pliers I have now are the paddle type rather than the needle type. Would I be able to get away with using those?

Always best to get the right tools for the job. You can f**k up more than you can fix by trying to use a tool for it's unintended purpose. As stated, Harbor Freight has good tools these days. Or go to Auto Zone or NAPA and get a set cheap as well.

The pliers come with multiple tips, you will find a set that fits. No I do not know the exact size, dont think you can buy them by size, replacements come as a kit. Cheap tool to buy, it will pay for itself the first time you use it.

I will probably get an interchangeable set, just wanted to make sure one of the tips would work before I buy something that I can't use.

A small screwdriver will easily pop it off too, if you don't have any tips that will fit. I've also use an old pair of needle nose that I sharpened on the grinder, to remove different snap rings.
