Anyone have a TC 96 Cam Removal / Install Tool that they would loan or rent to me? I'm in West TN (38242). I've been trying to pick-up a used one but they go fast. I only intend on doing this once so I can't afford to buy one to keep. I understand that many people don't loan / share tools so for those people there is no need to flame me for posting this.
I've been following all the report outs on cam installs and have gathered everything I need except the tool(s) above. Thank you to all that have posted on cam installs.
im in the middle of doing this myself. just a suggestion.
auto zone rented me the puller and ring compresser for less then they caust and they were new in the box so might keep lol
10 plus 20 total 30 deposit
with these tools only and being this is my first cam experience Id say im only adding an hour or two to the job without all the proper tools, just takin my time on these long cold winter nights.
You can usually take it in to an indy, maybe even a dealer if it's a decent one & have them install the new cams. Call & ask around, it's usually cheaper than buying the tools.
actually you can skip the ring compressor,I did one piston and it took forever so went and got the compressor for the other one and still took a bit longer then i expected.
how did we go from a bearing puller (OP) to a ring compressor?
I'm even more confused, I don't know how the thread went from a cam removal tool to an inner bearing remover/installer. I was about to tell the OP that with the TC96 you don't need a cam removal/install tool because the cams come right out and drop right in
