I was at a function one night and this lady walks up to my friend thats a patch holder and says "why do you wear that vest? His reply "I can look at another persons vest and instantly know who that person is and what that person is all about". That kind of sums it up for me. I don't own a vest (not saying that I won't one day). He## I just bought my first H-D leather jacket two weeks ago. As for the statements about the protection and warmth of one, I can dig that too.

If a man can't look at the road wrinkles on my face and into my eyes and tell what I'm about all the braille in the world on a vest isn't gonna help him , trust me .
The Army wants me highly visible so I wear the HD orange vest. I did notice the other day, when getting gear ready for an upcoming ride to Maryland, that the vest ought to be helpful when I have my Army cold/wet weather jacket on over my riding jacket. I.e. the vest should help deflect the air and help prevent the jacket billowing out behind me. But then again, I've been wrong before...
Kind if ironic huh? The same organization that insists you be highly visible when on a bike issues you camoflage for everyday wear.
question: why wear the vest? is it for patches exclusively?
thinking about getting a nice ones but will put a few personel patches on it but nothin club related. There are a multitude of MC's and a few RC's.. may go the RC route someday or stay independent.
i really like the look just dont want to look like a ****** poser.. there are enough around!
Stop worrying about what others think. spend your money the way you want to spend it and put whatever damn patches you want on it.
So many people here are so fixated on what other think.
In my experience in life people who are worried about what others think are the ones who go around worrying about what others do. So they think most normal people are doing the same thing.
The simple fact in life is most people don't give other people two seconds thought in their life. Except of course those who are critical of others, those who say oh man did you see what that ******* is wearing? who does he think he is?
I assure you most people aren't doing that. Buy your vest or don't put whatever you want on it or leave it blank... The people who will have thoughts about are typically ******** you need not worry about.

Understood... but the question is "Why the vest?" And I hear ya' on the wrinkles I wish I had a fiver for every one...I could get that Ultra I've been wanting.

My vest is where my patches go. The pockets are convenient too. I usually wear my vest over a jacket if I am riding with my club. To each his own and the fashion police can worry about whatever they want to worry about.
Was a time in another age when a vest and what was on it meant something , like everything else to do with a harely anymore it's gotten so over done and common doesn't mean a damn thing but a tired fashion statement and a place for displaying middle crazies souvenirs .

If you want a vest wear a vest, honestly do you really give a **** what anyone thinks about you? Ask yourself that question and get your honest answer, I bet it's no. I'm 34 and way past giving a crap what people think about me, if people want to think I'm a poser or a RUB more power to them. I don't wear a vest personally, I really find no point in them, more comfortable things to wear to give me extra pockets. But if I ever want to wear a vest I'll just buy one and rock it without caring at all.
