Anyone wear Danner Rain Forest or Super Rain Forest Boots??
Looking to buy a new pair of Danners. Ive had Acadias and Ft. Lewis boots in the past and loved them but really want a pair of FULL leather boots. Yes the Ft. Lewis is full leather but way too tall for riding a whatnot. I called Danner and all they offer is the Recon which is insulated and I dont want that. The lady suggested the Rain Forest or the Super. She told me they were the same boot but the super was overbuilt, twice as thick leather, etc. Anybody have a pic of either other than the stock photos on Danner dot com?? thanks
I've been searching for a good pair of riding boots for some time now. My search has lead me to Danner and this week I ordered a pair of the Super Rain Forest boots. Unlike you, I was looking for a pair of waterproof and insulated boots, so I ordered the plain toe model with 200g insulation. No retailer in my area stocked the U.S.-made Danners. I did try on the plain toe Quarry style (imported) which was an incredibly comfortable boot and fit my foot very well, but wasn't available with insulation. I contacted Danner and they claimed the Super Rain Forest fit would be similar to the Quarry since they were made with the same last. I should have them in a week or so. I'll post my impressions.
Be interesting to here your impressions. I just had the impression from the Danner rep that the super rain forest will be SUPER thick and tough and hard to break in. Im sure once you do that they will be some awesome boots though.
Well I ended up buying another set of Acadias off of Ebay. Very lightly used for $60 shipped. They didnt have the "orthotic" insoles in them so called up Danner and they said they would put me a pair in the mail. Now thats customer service right there.
An to boot, pun intended, they are just as comfy as I remember from the last pair I have.
Update....I still have the Acadias. I ended up buyin a pair or 6" brown Danner Quarry boots at Cabelas out of the bargain cave. I LOVE them....way more than the Acadias. Thinkin bout buyin a pair of the Quarry's in black for ridin.
I wear my Danner RATs to and from work. They run 1/2 - 1 size bigger than the standard USMC Danner (even though on the phone they told me they would fit the same) so be careful ordering new models. Luckily their exchange policy is awesome.
Thats interesting Ive wore 11.5 in two pair of Acadias, a pair of Ft Lewis's and a pair of Quarrys......all ranging from nearly 10 yrs ago to 5 months ago. Will sure keep that in mind though. Wonder if that was just from "stock" store stuff to Corp issue though?
I have had my Danner Quarry boots for over 5 years now and they are awesome! I use them hard and they are still going strong. The soles are coming apart, nothing a shoe repair store can't take care of.
