the 308's like Tom Selleck had in Magnum go for around 25K. If you can't tell, my ultimate car would be Italian
The 308 was the last car Ferrari made that was worth looking at. Too many computers on board now.
Y'know, my Dad used to work at a big BMW dealership. They had a guy come in and part-exchanged a Ferrari (I forget the model) against a fully-loaded 7-series. Before the trade, the technicians (all of them factory trained by BMW in Munich) went over the Ferrari with a fine-toothed comb. They were alternately amazed and horrified at the shockingly messy welds on the chassis and the uneven panel gaps everywhere. The general fit and finish was actually very poor. Basically, it validated the old saying that when you buy a Ferrari what you're paying for is the engine. The rest of the car they thrown in for free...
Oh, and that yellow CVO is hideous. $40,000?! **** off!!
Nothing at all wrong with current bike. I honestly love it. Which is why I was so surprised when I was so smitten with the sexy CVO bike. Perhaps it was simply the idea that I could get it that was so exciting. A couple of days now removed from the situation and I am realizing that it is not the best bike for my current financial situation.
HarleyRanger, you might find, as I did, that as time goes on and reality sets in, you will gain some perspective. You might find yourself looking at your '09 in a different light, as I found myself doing with my '04. With some careful research and planning, and some judiciously spent $$ you can make that '09 far more than the average EG Classic, a real "keeper", one that you can take pride in and say "There are many like it, but this one is mine!"
My thought process on this was at three years old and 35,000 miles I still have fairly good resale value as the bike is still desirable. If I keep it a few more years and put another 25-30 thou miles on it I figure the trade in value would take a huge hit.
I view what you are saying here as a key piece of the puzzle and not to be taken lightly.
Loved my 02 Road King with around 40k miles. When the 09's came out I actually went through the same thought process. Got some trade in prices from the dealer and said no it isn't meant to happen. Decided to try and sell it myself and did and came ahead about $4500. I viewed that as a sign that I was supposed to buy a new 09 and did it. Perhaps try and sell your current bike for its real value as opposed to trade-in value. If it sells, you'll have a nice chunk of cash for the CVO. I believe if you can reasonably afford something to go for it. Life is too short.

Just some food for thought.

As I was reading your post an old song came up on the radio I hadn't heard in about 20 years as I was flipping thru the radio. Chorus went something like this... "Dont go chasing waterfalls, please stick to the rivers And the lakes that youre used to."
I guess like you said earlier about the CVO being a pretty redhead this song is saying same thing that the CVO was an exciting waterfall and my old faithful '09 steed is my lake that I'm used to.
I get it now,
I said the "with the extra 10k I'm saving I can do this and that with my bike and make it one of a kind". Guess what? I haven't done any of it. I just ride it. Part of the deal is alot of the mods are already done and you don't have to do it later on. That is what makes the CVO's appealing to people.
