HarleyRanger..you said they are asking $40,000 as configured, is that out the door or plus tax & reg?? MSRP is $37,249 plus the extras....how much are they marking this up?? You say you are in your early 50's----how many more years do you plan to work anyway?? One last thing, you only live once and you can't take it with you.

Two things just to be an *******. I don't think that MSRP is $33K, I think it is closer to $38K. Second I think it is closer to $8K to do the entire 120r when you add labor and could be higher if you add a new exhaust.
I agree with depreciating assets. Especially this one. It will never be worth anywhere near its retail price ever again once I ride it off the lot. I understand that, and it concerns me. And I'm right in the middle of your guess. I'm in my early 50's.
For me, sometimes spending more money and buying exactly what I want saves me money. If I'm happy with a car, truck or motorcycle I buy, I tend to hold onto it for quite a few years (at least a minimum 6-7 years). If you are that type of person also then go for it. If you have a short attention span and are only happy with a major purchase for a few years then if I were still in my 50's, I'd think long and hard before spending the $40K.
Sorry, $40k for a motorcycle is ridiculous. I would have a hard time spending $20k on one. You could customize your current bike for $5000 tops. New paint, chrome plate your wheels and add some extra chrome and a custom seat.
You will get just as much enjoyment and owe $35k less.
Same thing happened to me when I first saw my '08 Anniversary edition FLTR......didn't get away....it's still sitting in my garage, and I absolutely have no regrets! Zip, zilch, nada......!!!!!!
Their is no way to turn an ultra into a vision. victory will never be a harley.
Nor does it want to. $700 in a Stage 1 upgrade the Vision puts out about the same power as a CVO @ 1/2 the price. No comparison in the ride either.I'll admit it does lose out in the eye candy catagory though, but that's not a priority.
