I have had the same problem on my 05 deluxe, just died while riding a few times. After some checking , it turned out to be the kill switch. I took it apart and cleaned it and never had another problem. I'm not saying that it's your problem... just someting else to look at.
During a driving rainstorm a few years ago I accidentally hit my kill switch while trying to hit the right turn signal getting off the freeway. It took me several minutes to figure out exactly what I had done and why the bike suddenly powered down.
If U still have the org battery (6yr old)its time for new one to be on the safe side anyway.
Just replace ours this spring, (5yrs old and she was done) I use the tender any time she sits over 3-4 days.
She'd start after being on the tender a while but wouldn't hold a charge this spring.
If Ur batt is less than 4yrs and U're taken care of it then it may have been loose battery bolts..
Only once back in 09 when my bike was 2yrs old, mine died while ridding three times.
The third time she died I found one of my battery bolts was not tight and that was what the problem was.
After getting home I cleaned the cables and snugged the bolts again I haven't had that problem again.
I had that problem once with the kill switch being the problem....I bumped it while playing with the dumb stock throttle lock wheel. I have since changed out that stock wheel with a lever. Much nicer setup.
