They are superb - no need to buy 2 sets as they are 100% washable and sat for ages - the lot I bought from had them with me within 72 hours - great service ( and irish as I am )
Bought one set for me and one set for my wife.
My audiologist wants to fit me with a custom pair and I will let her do that. She suggested the Alpine filters as an alternative to the foam plugs I am now using until we can fit some custom plugs.
+1 Can't beat the comfort of custom molded ear plugs. I was shocked to see what some places charge to make custom molded ear plugs for you. These are the same thing only do it yourself.
I tried two different times to do it myself. Was not very successful. Had them made at a bike show and they injected the stuff in my ear. That works much better than me shoving it in my ear. I absolutely love mine on long rides.
I ordered Surefire EP3's to go in my pack, I already use them at the range and I can plug them to block out conversations if I don't want to hear someone talk. :O

I got some custom made ear plugs. I have seen different vendors provide these at rallies and bike shows. Mine cost $29 and made specifically to fit my ears. They a big difference on long rides and being made for me they are comfortable as well.
Just a note on these that some may not know...
Your ear canals continue to change shape as you age... These molded ear plugs should be replaced and new molds taken ~ every two years.

I picked up a custom earplug kit from Cabelas that I use when I shoot outdoors. They work pretty well and are easy to custom form to your ears. I never thought of using them on the bike however.

At the recommendation of folks on this forum, I started using Surefire Sonic Defender EP-3s. I now am using EP-4s which are the same except have one additional baffle. (The EP-6 is just an EP-3 that has been endorsed by a racecar driver.) They are comfortable all day long, elimate the wind damage but allow for conversation. If you get the clear/nude ones, they are almost invisible. You can get them on Amazon or from Mudd Creek, the people that did the following reviews. Most men are mediums. Most women (like my wife) wear small.

I can attest to that. I had some made at a gun show the the Cow Palace in SF, then about three years later, I had to get new made, the one wasn't staying in as well.
Also, I'm trusting y'all's advice, just ordered a set of alpines for riding. My custom are for shooting, and cut out way too much noise while riding.
