Default Pump Jockeys

Are there still states that do not allow a driver to pump their own gas? If so, do they allow riders to pump their own?

I believe Oregon and New Jersey are two. Not 100% sure on Jersey though and if there are others.
When In Oregon I have always pumped my own gas on the bike. Do not know why, Cant even think about it in the car.

Oregon for sure... riders can pump their own however. Funny thing is the jokey will usually take the nozzle off the pump, turn the pump on, then hand it to you for pumping.

It drives me crazy. The people that take those jobs could really care less about service. it always takes twice as long to get gas in a car compared to other states (I live in Wa)

In New jersey it is illegal for anyone but the attendant to pump gas. I have yet to have someone try to take it out of my hands when I start to fill the bike. I think they all know better. I have never seen a rider getting his bike filled for him.

There has been talk about allowing self service here but every time it comes up it is defeated because everyone expects the price to stay the same as it was for self serve and go way up for full serve. With all the people in this state that have never pumped gas and don't know how they expect they will be paying a big premium.

Really? It's illegal to pump your own gas in NJ? Oops, I, and bunch of my buddies, broke the law in the summer when we were there then... it never even occurred to us NOT to fill our own tanks, and no one said anything to us when we did.

What a stupid law...

Cheers!

It is a stupid law. I can't believe the liberal socialistic states of Kalifornia and New York and the North Eastern states don't have those laws since they are always trying to control your lives from the cradle to the grave and tax you death besides, bunch of idiots.

Here (in NJ) it is illegal to pump your own gas. Yet it is understood that, when dealing with a motorcycle, the attendants run your card or cash and take to nozzle off and then they hand it to you and you fill the tank yourself. The guys and galsat theplace that I go to even bring a rag over to you when you take the nozzle out of the tank just in case you drip. One more perk to being on a bike.

I only know of one place in my area where there's an attendant that pumps the gas. It's been all self-service since the late 70s here in Wisconsin.

Jersey does not allow you to pump your gas, however I never filled up a bike there to know if they would allow you to fill up your bike if you really b!tched enough at them.
