Default Low profile helmet - DOT

Hi, I'm looking for any feedback on good low profile helmets that are DOT approved. I currently have a skid lid, but it looks like a giant mushroom on top of my head.

I checked out the Fulmer half helmet, and it looks good, but I have a feeling it might also have the mushroom effect.

Thanks in advance for anyone's help.

Any DOT helmet will give you the "mushroom" look to some extent due to the ESP liner. That's what crushes in the crash. There's no way around it. Safety or looks? You decide.

No such thing as a low profile DOT helmet. It is the +1" inch required padding of a DOT helmet that gives it the mushroom effect. No padding = no 'shroom head but also no DOT approved protection.
Different helmets will sit on your head differently and one helmet that looks good on someone else may not look good on you.
For this reason and many others it is best to try on helmets on your own head and buy the one that fits and looks best.

Good luck in your search....

I went with a fulmer because it was smaller than the skid lids. All DOTs look mushroomy though, no way around it. I'm using a 3/4 Daytona these days. Less mushroom, less noise and it doesn't try to rip my head off in a strong wind.

Check out this thread....

This helmet doesn't give you the "mushroom" look. Not only are there pics of the helmet on a person, there are a lot of positive posts from other forum members about how small this DOT helmet is. There might be one or two not so positive posts about this helmet but most likely they are from trolls or someone without any real life experience with this particular helmet.

I've been searching for years for a small DOT and finally found it in this helmet. You'll be glad you checked it out!
