You'll feel the 'soul' of your bike alright, if you ever fall on your face and stick your hands out to try to keep from eating asphalt...which everyone in that situation will naturally do. Even light leather gloves will afford some protection. Bare skin? To each their own.
Leathers head to toe no matter how hot.
Protection and protection...
The sun will beat you up! And all the coin you drop to your skin doctor could have been spent on toys. NO escape, so cover up.
For all you guys that wear gloves in this unbearable heat? Or any other time except when the cold season arrives. I've never figured out what other purpose they serve. I like to feel the soul of my bike when I ride, and dread to have to put them on in the late fall. I could maybe understand protection from a fall, but most of the guys I see wearing them are helmetless, so that doesn't really make much sense. So just wondering ( not a slam) why you wear them?
Three micro seconds after coming off your bike and sliding down (I hope it never happens to you by the way) the road, the Oh ***** factor kicks in; youll remember all those people who said it was smart to wear gloves while riding. Until it happens to you, you will not understand; well lets not tempt fate. I wear lite weight Kevlar lined gloves all year round.
Hit the road with your hands and you'll see why, it'll only take one time!
I wear just plain ol leather work gloves with the fingers cut off. Got a bad case of Road Rash on my hands once, that was enough for me!
Oh! By the way, you feel the soul of your bike, thru "your" soul, not thru your hands. Never heard that one before! Next thing you'll be telling us is you can feel the Battery charging thru your ***!
I wear regular leather gloves, doesn't feel right without them. My hands don't get sweaty and i feel like i have a better grip on the levers.

That's pretty much it for me as well. My hands get sweaty (without them) in the heat and I have a better grip on the throttle with my gloves than with bare hands.
I wear MX gloves regardless of the temps. Reasons are, habit from offroad rding and as others have said they actually kep your hands cooler by whicking away the moisture.
Most wrecks involve hands getting torn up not heads . Go ahead do a lttle slide and leave a couple palms worth of skin on the road or better yet trade with gravel & blacktop ground in . Then after you get home and you'll all bandaged up try you luck at getting you old lady to wipe your *** for you cause you can't .
Damn this place,,,, coffee on the key board again !
