Most wrecks involve hands getting torn up not heads . Go ahead do a lttle slide and leave a couple palms worth of skin on the road or better yet trade with gravel & blacktop ground in . Then after you get home and you'll all bandaged up try you luck at getting you old lady to wipe your *** for you cause you can't .
oh, no, don't misunderstand what I'm saying. I wear full protection all the time... I just get his point. Why worry about your hands when you leave your head exposed? But, to each his own.
It depends... Maybe only 20% of the time. I just shattered my elbow protecting my face in a wreck 2 months ago. I used my hands to slow my slide. Your logic suggests that you should just ride naked since you're not wearing a helmet.

I agree with you protecting you hands and not your head makes little sense. Still I always wear a helmet and wear gloves for comfort. The gel palms are handy for keeping your hands from going numb on a long ride on the Night Train.
For people who actually ride, gloves are a must.Bar-hopping posers don't need them. I seldom have a day where something doesn't rap my knuckles.Stones, grasshoppers, you name it,it all raises hell at 60 mph. The mountain roads we ride up here are loaded with gravel and rocks, and cars and logging trucks kick crap up in a constant barrage.Chaps even on the hottest days.
