Really!? After 54 posts you aren't getting it?
Wearing a helmet has nothing to do with wearing gloves. There are many that won't wear helmets. Some say the helmet actually weighs your head down and can makes things worse. I'm not one of'em, and have no interest in another helmet thread. Drop the damn helmet thing!!!

Now, you have gotten a crapload of good answers to your glove question:
1. Road rash.
2. ATGATT.
3. Road rash.
4. Vibrations
5. Road rash.
6. bugs hitting hand or worse stinging you.
7. Road rash.
8. Sunburn
9. Road rash
10.Keeping your hands from sweating on your grips causing a slippery situation.
11. Road rash
12. Habit/wouldn't feel right w/o.
13. Yep, you guessed it: Road rash. (seeing a pattern here?)

Someone even made fun of you and said b/c it makes him feel badass!

One that nobody said is that a pair of chrome grips are UNTOUCHABLE without gloves after sitting in the hot sun.

After allllllllll that you are going to still suggest guys do it for looks??? On the contrary I think I look pretty f'ing stupid wearing gloves with a t-shirt but I ain't never gonna stop. If I get into an accident that has me bandaged (worse cast) damn near head to toe with a long recovery there are a few things I still want to be able to do: Surf the internet, hold my TiVo remote, use my cell phone, transport food/beverage to my mouth, and wipe my ***. As Arizona said, what DON'T you use your hands for all day long? These fingers and opposable thumbs separate us from the animals. Without'em you'll be just another dumb animal when you go down.

So the road doesn't "feel my soul" through my hands.

Thought it just me, but yes I can ! That's how I knew my stator was going out. Actually thought the "battery *** check" was an option in '97 !!

I missed the memo for riding uniform. It's fingerless gloves, doo rag, black shirt, jeans and boots right?

I do have a few black shirts but no way am I wearing them with this brutal sun shining down. I prefer pastels myself. (snort!) I use a doo rag but it comes off when the helmet comes off as do the gloves.

I used to have a little giggle at guys wearing fingerless gloves because I had no use for them other than when in the gym. Now that I do have a use I save the giggle for people wearing them in their cages. Now that's funny!

I just got back from a day ride through the White Mountains in NH and couldn't tell you what one other biker was, or was not wearing......I must not be a "real (internet forum) biker".

Didn't see this reason anywhere. I sunburn easily. I usually wear long sleeve shirts all summer long to protect my arms, and the gloves stops my hands from burning.

The gel pad also keeps my hands from going numb after a few hundred miles.

The above picture is a real good reason to wear gloves. Besides protection, I wear them to avoid sunburn, to help maintain a grip when my hands sweat, and also because the grips get hot when in the sun.
