My stock grips have turned into sticky gooey lumps of sticky gooey-ness, I can't afford to replace them at this laid-off juncture in my life so I wear gloves to keep the sticky goo from transferring onto my hands.
OP, anything else you are having a problem with? Please give me a list of the things that bother you and I will do my darndest to live up to your ideals!
Like everyone else said: better grip, protection from flying debris, comfort, and safety from a possible wreck.
^^^^^ you betcha.
Even in mucggy hot weather my light natural tan deerskin work gloves are comfy. Moisture doesn't effect / dry out deer like cowhide. Easy on and off. Think they were $14 delivered on ebay.
Fox Creek elk skin for colder temps are tough to beat for the cost of two Chinese
HD t shirts.
one thing not mentioned, have you ever seen what your sweat does to the stock rubber grips after a while?

plus, jax wears gloves.
Yep, twice I have had knuckles slip open by rocks. Sad it took a second time for me to learn but I did wise up and now I wear them all the time..

Kind of like the image you are trying to put forth here???
Ok you've convinced me. What's a good light weight glove that offers ample protection? Keep in mind it's damn hot in Florida... a lot..
Find something leather and perforated. At speed the air finds a way through all those little holes. If it gets too hot, throw your palm up/down into the wind for a few seconds. I was riding in 102 degrees yesterday with a index of 117 and was fine. When I hit bike weeks this summer I am going to look for a good pair where I don't feel like I'm paying extra for an HD logo.
Lots of people recommend River Road Gear. Did a link below for their Tucson model. Looks exactly like a Harley glove (and might be). So far this is looking like my next glove.
For all you guys that wear gloves in this unbearable heat? Or any other time except when the cold season arrives. I've never figured out what other purpose they serve. I like to feel the soul of my bike when I ride, and dread to have to put them on in the late fall. I could maybe understand protection from a fall, but most of the guys I see wearing them are helmetless, so that doesn't really make much sense. So just wondering ( not a slam) why you wear them?
When I wear them, it's mainly to keep the sun off on long rides, same reason I usually wear a long sleeve T-shirt. I don't like to put on sunscreen unless it's really, really too hot for sleeves and gloves. The heat doesn't bother me much and anybody who has been in the military recently is iused to long sleeves and gloves at 100+ degrees.
