My 08' Nightster (fuel injected) will occasionally (usually once every ride) start idling higher than normal. I can tell when it's going to do it because when I let off of the throttle I can feel it pushing as I'm coasting. Then when I get caught at a traffic light, it will idle high for about thirty seconds and return to normal idle speed. After that, everything is fine. I'm thinking there is a leak in a gasket somewhere between the injector body and the intake manifold, causing too much air to enter. Anybody had a similar problem or heard of something like this?
I get that to, not sure what the heck it is, comes and goes, ??? right now hasn't showed up lately? i'll be waiting for a explanation on this too, sorry no help here,
It's happened to me once. Came off the interstate to a red light and the idle was up to 1400rpms. Lasted about 10 seconds. I ride 2012 FXDWG with about 5000 miles on it.
My '11 Heritage is currently in the shop hopefully getting this very thing taken care of. My Indy thinks it's the fuel pressure regulator without even looking at the bike. The dealership thinks it's something else, as the O2 sensors are not responding as they run diagnostics.
I'm suspect of the dyno tune when the SE Race Tuner was installed, as the Indy only made two runs; I've checked with several tuners in the meantime who've stated it should take considerably more time than that.
I guess time will tell...

Subscribed-- My 09 ultra has starte doing this as well. High idle for about 30 seconds then normal idle.
Have read on another site that the TCA (Throttle Control Actuator) pins can get scuzzy with grime, electrolysis, etc and casue the same event.
Well it sounds like I'm not the only one with this issue. A buddy of mine told me to spray some WD-40 or something comperable where the intake meets the jugs. If it starts sputtering or idling funny, then I do have a leak at the seals. Pretty much trial and error from here on out it looks like. Thanks for the input folks! I'll gladly take more input as well.....
