I have an HJC modular and it is a bit noisy and I notice it mostly at mid-range 40-60 MPH speeds. Above 60 the engine/exhaust seems to be louder than the aire leaks.
I use my helmet speakers most of the time and that also helps.
You may want to experiment with ear plugs, or installing some thin sticky back foam on the helmet/shield joints.
Another problem (even with snowmobile helmets) is that when you seal a helmet to where it is really quiet, it tends to fog-up more easily.
Full face helmets seem to amplify noise. Of course here in WI we need them on those cold, rainy days. When I have to wear one, I use a Scorpion EXO700 - my avatar. If that helmet is on that means it's pretty sh*tty out, i.e. heavy rain. I always use ear plugs because it is definitely loud on my Harley. Funny thing is, on my other bikes it's just fine.
Short of wearing that, I use a Bell Shorty with ear flaps and a balaclava. It's plenty warm but I am behind a full fairing which protects my face. Nice and quiet.
Shoei RF1000 that I have had for three years is super quiet. I will be getting a newer model Shoei this year. I have to go FF during the winter as well.
I will not wear a modular helmet.
You have to make sure the helmet fits proper, and that will feel super tight at first, but will form nicely after a few hours of riding. If it doesn't fit right it will be super noisy.

+1 on the balaclava. I rode today. I have a older HD full face with the flip up chin bar. That one has a lot of wind noise at high speed.
The half helmet; Men's Blade Half Helmet with Retractable Sun Shield, seems to be a bit quieter than the full face or any of the other half helmets I have.
I have the SG in 'ugly mode' which helps alot with wind buffeting. Soft lowers, JSC front fork deflectors and the HD fork baffle.
By the way you other Cheeseheads, this Saturday is the annual Jack Frost ride, here in Green Bay. www.vvhd.com for more details.
