I am new to riding and am trying to get all my riding gear. I had made up my mind and was about to go purchase a pair of Wiley X Gravity with the light adjusting (LA) lens, but then I read a couple of threads on here that said the LA lens stop working after about 2 yrs. Its tough to justify spending $140 on glasses that will only last 2 yrs. I have looked at the Oakley wind jacket and am quite interested. They seem to have a good seal on my face and come with clear and smoke lens. Price is comparable with my EMS discount. So what do you guys think? Go with the wiley x for the convenience of LA lenses knowing that I will have to replace them after about 2 yrs or get the oakleys which should last longer but will have to change out the lens to ride at night? Thanks!!
I have the Windjackets. Don't really care about swapping out the lenses. The photochromatics never got dark enough for me.
I can tell you that if you ride enough, you'll get oil and gunk on the Windjacket gasket that will cause it to slip out of the plastic piece it is in and it won't keep all the nasties out.
I have used many Wiley X's over the past three plus years, the transition lenses are still changing for me (work provides them for me). You can get the lenses in grey or brown tint. I have not compared a three year old set to a set I got this year to see if the old ones are not changing as dark. If they are not working as good it is not a performance loss that is noticable to me.

I have the windjackets and they are the best thing I have found so far. Super comfortable and they have good peripheral vision. They also have anti fog lenses unique to only the windjacket version of the glasses. The antifog really works. I was out the other day when it was 40 degrees and had a wrap around my face, the lenses never fogged up not even at a traffic light.
I now have windjackets and like them very much. I had the Wiley X with la lenses for 3 years until they finally stopped changing tint. I can tell you the windjackets have a much better seal and the lenses are great!

Swapping lenses on the wind/split jackets takes less than 10 seconds. They are great glasses. They also have a multitude of different color lenses available

Just an FYI.
Love my Windjackets. Hated the way the gasket kept slipping out. A couple drops of superglue, and viola! No more slippage.
