I also can not stand wearing a helmet, unfortunately, here in the nanny state of Washington, I don't get to make that choice.
I can smoke dope legally, I can marry someone of the same sex legally, but I must wear a friken helmet!
That's the truth. I really dislike my helmet but I have to wear it in Washington. Too top it off the last time I checked the fine was higher for wearing a novelty helmet than it was for not wearing one at all. Either way, it's too steep a fine to tell them to shove it.

I am so sick of this crap.
Enjoy what's left of freedom while you can.
I hate "lifestyle laws." I kind of get the reasoning but I don't like them...
We need less government, not more... Whatever happened to stupidity being deadly? No wonder we have more stupid people roaming around than ever before.
I agree you should have your freedoms and we need to fight for them so we don't loose them. I wear a full face because I want to. And to protect my handsome face if I should go down. LOL
In Texas you can go with out a helmet if you meet one of two requirements.
1: Adequate amount of insurance to pay for your medical bills if you go down.
2: Pass a State approved safety class. The class promotes wearing a helmet.
I meet both and took the advance safty class. To me the Advance class was not as fulfilling as hoped. Took it to lower my insurance.
I get your frustration man. I've never worn a helmet, to me, it just sorta defeats the freedom in the wind feeling i ride for. That being said, i wouldn't take my daughters around the block without theirs on. They can make that choice for themselves when they're over 18, and i certainly don't begrudge anyone else their decision to wear one should the wish to. Years ago i t boned a dump truck that turned left in front of me. Hit it going about 60 i'd guess. no helmet. 3 stitces above my right eyebrow. Did tear off my right leg just below the knee though, so now i ride with a prosthetic right leg. Wasn't any helmet in the world that was stopping that. Most of my family, and a lot of my non biker friends were horrified that i even considered getting back on a bike. Screw em, you simply cannot live to make others happy, even if you love them. Life is too short, you have to do what makes you feel alive, as long as it's not at someone elses expense.
