Would you all be willing to pay higher insurance rates to be able to not wear helmet?
I already PAY for my insurance as it is. Why should I have to pay more to go without a helmet? Will I have to pay more becuase I drink too and only exercise 3 times a week instead of 6? Or why can't we hike the insurance on fatties who frequent MacDonalds?
Thanks for the Eric video!!!
As far as helmets go, my Dad was a fighter pilot. He wore a helmet, seat and shoulder belts, and a fancy pressure suit. Have you ever watched those guys fly? Hot rodders of the first order. Half his flight class dead by retirement. He always said "Do dangerous stuff, very carefully". I helped him fit out our cars with seatbelts before they were an option. So I say screw the law, and wear the gear even if its not the law. "To live outside the law you must be honest"- Bob Dylan

You based on people wearing their helmets in states that require it, by not wearing your helmet you are increasing the risk of all that pay the insurance and you should be libel for the increased risk.
If you get life insurance and private health insurance (not through a group), they ask health questions and base risk off those factors, so yes to your other points.

I am thankful and appreciate your dad being a fighter pilot, but I have one question. When a pilot augers into the ground at 500 mph, what good is any helmet going to do that person.

I totally agree with you but with douche bags like Bloomberg in office, he would love to charge you more for your lack of exercise, being over weight and as we all know stopping you from having a large beverage. Thankfully it do not go through.
I have no choice. I live in California and my wife wants me to wear one anyway.
But I agree with the OP. I got SO tired of people saying " You're not going to ride again, are you ?" after my last accident. My wife didn't even ask. She knew. She bought me a new bike. It's in her name. I do what she wants. She said I can tell people I wear the pants in our family, though.

I hate when anyone asks me if I'm going to wear my helmet. I feel that it's a jinx, especially before a ride. I bought the least expensive dome holder I could find for my license years ago. It's been in the shed ever since. Alaska has a passenger helmet law only. Besides I like to hear my effin radio.

No more good than me wearing a tin pot while running ammo to 155s. But maybe it would turn more shrapnel than the aluminum armor on the 155?
