Folks, this 'nanny state' problem ain't just about our helmets. Look around. Our personal liberties are being trampled every day. No government will voluntarily relinquish it's powers to tax (and that is what these laws are, taxes) so we MUST become politically active before it is too late. Know your congressmen, know your senators.... state and federal..... and write letters. Call them. Let them know this stuff matters to you personally. And most importantly: VOTE!!!

(Get's down off of soapbox)
Even more then knowing your senators...know what they stand for...know what they have or have not voted for (are they truly representing their constituents?). Vote and be able to speak about these issues to family and friends to make sure they are aware.
I currently live in NC which has a helmet law but that will hopefully be repealed this year. Lord willing I will soon be getting a good job in SC which does not have a helmet law. Whenever I travel to a state that does not require a helmet I ride without.
to the original OP- I hear ya- loud & clear!
I grew up riding & racing off-road, so having a helmet was the norm. Even later in life riding cafe racers, street bikes & dual sports- riding without a helmet I always felt "nekid".
But after moving here in southern AZ, I have come to enjoy riding w/o a bucket. I like the feeling of being free that it gives me, wind in the face, etc. But mostly- in the summer here, I almost feel like the brains are cooking inside a helmet- just way too friggin hot.
Every once in a while I'll strap on a helmet- when the mood strikes me, I sure have enough of them! But I like that it's "MY" choice to do so when "I" want to- and not because someone else has forced their decision upon me.
We've allowed ourselves to be legislated into slavery practically. Everyday you hear of more nonsense laws- dictating how much you can drink, what you can say, what you can buy, etc, etc.
Enjoy what's left of your freedoms while you still can Brothers!
Thanks Brothers, I really and honestly didnt think ''Ill never ride again without a helmet'' Its just the way I am, Ive road since I was In my early 20s and I guess when your numbers up,its up. Im not a big church goer, but I do thank the lord my wife wasnt hurt but Ive went all these years enjoying my sport and hobby with my fellow brothers and southern cruisers and Im not changing a thing. I ride because its my way of saying ***** the job, the preasures of life and today im going were i want and doing what I want and ''turn down the road I want'' Im also weird I think my bike has a soul I wanted my bike to be totaled but im glad Im getting it back I know a tear will roll down as I pull out of the Harley dealer with my legs straped firmly around her again as we go were I point her light and let her lead.
